Building A Better Bridge Inn Road And Yan Yean Road
Drivers in the growing northern suburbs will get a faster, less congested commute with massive new upgrades to Bridge Inn Road and Yan Yean Road in Doreen.
The works will be part of the Andrews Labor Government’sSuburban Roads Upgrade – the biggest investment in suburban roads in Victoria’s history – to fix 22 key suburban arterials and create more than 4,200 jobs during construction.
Bridge Inn Road will be widened from two to four lanes between Plenty Road and Yan Yean Road, removing a significant bottleneck and improving access to the new Mernda Railway Station and Mernda Town Centre.
Stage 2 of the Yan Yean Road upgrade will also be delivered as part of the package, widening Yan Yean Road from two to four lanes between Bridge Inn Road and Kurrak Road.
These upgrades will slash congestion and improve travel times for the more than 17,000 drivers who rely on Bridge Inn Road and Yan Yean Road each day.
As part of the project, the roundabout at the existing intersection of Bridge Inn Road and Yan Yean Road will be replaced with traffic lights.
A new bridge will be built over Plenty River, and new cycling and pedestrian paths will be installed along Bridge Inn Road and Yan Yean Road.
