DELIVERING A NEW BUS SERVICE TO MERNDA AND CRAIGIEBURN

In good news for local families, a re-elected Labor Government will invest $10 million in new bus services in our growing suburbs and regions.

Whether it’s building the new Suburban Rail Loop, continuing to remove dangerous and congested level crossings or delivering more local bus routes, only Labor will keep transforming our public transport system to make sure people are connected wherever they live.

Locals in Mernda, Craigieburn and Wollert will be able to get around more quickly and easily with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to deliver more buses to connect them to train services, work and study.

We said we would modernise Victoria’s public transport network and we have. The Andrews Labor Government is already building the Metro Tunnel, removing dangerous and congested level crossings and upgrading train lines and bus services right around the state.

Locally, the Mernda extension has been delivered six months ahead of schedule. The new eight-kilometre extension, complete with three new stations at Mernda, Hawkstowe and Middle Gorge, is already making life easier for families in these communities.

This will include a brand-new bus service that links local residents living between Mernda and Craigieburn Station, including families in Wollert.

While the Liberals cut bus routes with no consultation with local communities, only Labor will deliver more buses and better public transport for local families.

“Labor delivered the rail extension to South Morang and now to Mernda. We’ve also helped ease congestion by introducing the Plenty Valley Bus Network. The new service will expand the current network, giving more families the choice to leave their car at home. When it comes to delivering better public transport, only Labor has the track-record families can rely on.”

“For families living in Wollert this will make a real difference, making it faster and easier to get where they’re going, especially for local students on their commute to school.”

“Our growing community deserves good local transport services to get people where they need to go, just as we’ve delivered with the rail extension to Mernda.”
