Diamond Creek students will soon have bigger, better classrooms and school facilities to learn in, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green MP today visited Diamond Valley College and Diamond Creek East Primary School to announce funding from the recent State Budget.

The Victorian Budget 2019/20 invests a record $2.8 billion in our schools, as part of a sweeping $4 billion investment in education – from early childhood education and schools through to higher education and TAFE.

This Budget invests a record $1.82 billion to roll out the next phase of the school building boom, which is creating thousands of jobs and ensuring every child has access to the best facilities, close to home.

Diamond Valley College will receive $3.1 million to transform the school, building on the $3.8 million already provided by the Andrews Labor Government.

Also announced was $360,000 to plan the future upgrade at Diamond Creek East Primary School.

Upgrading a school is a significant investment and involves a number of stages to ensure that public money is invested in the right place at the right time. These stages include demographic assessment, school design and finally construction. This process often takes longer than a year to complete.

A major step in this process is consulting and informing the local community. This is to ensure their aspirations help shape the school design.

Other steps in the process can include setting up advisory committees and working groups which seek advice from; teachers, principals, education experts, local community members and key stakeholders.

The Labor Government has invested $5.6 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades, supporting over 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.

A total of 100 new schools will open by 2026 under the Labor Government’s school building boom, ensuring every child has a great local school and a great start in life.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and a quality education.
