Boardwalks and exercise equipment will be installed in Ryans Creek Reserve and a nature trail developed for Wallan, thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.

Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green and Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes today announced that Mitchell Shire Council will receive $2.56 million from the latest round of the Growing Suburbs Fund for the following projects:

  • $900,000 to complete the second stage of the Ryans Creek Reserve Kilmore activation, which will include new boardwalks, exercise equipment, youth play spaces, unisex toilets, and improved lighting
  • $800,000 for the Wallan Central Cycle and Nature Trail Project, which will activate the heart of Wallan’s growing township with a new network of paths, bridges, and nature-based play features
  • $750,000 for the Seymour Chittick Park Accessible Playspace Project, which will upgrade and expand Seymour’s all-abilities play space at Chittick Park
  • $110,000 to upgrade the Greenhill Reserve Playspace in Wallan.

The Growing Suburbs Fund helps Melbourne’s rapidly developing interface and peri-urban councils deliver high-quality facilities for their communities and has invested $27.82 million across the Mitchell Shire to help make 28 projects possible, including the new Wallan Community Hub.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Growing Suburbs Fund has facilitated over $1.07 billion in local infrastructure, created more than 10,200 jobs and supported 299 projects across our fastest-growing areas.
