A brand-new community hub for Wallan is on the way thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.

Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green, representing Minister for Local Government Shaun Leane, today inspected the project works that are already well underway.

When complete, the $1.2 million hub will connect families, youth and children with one stop access to vital support services creating a much-needed link between the community and service providers.

Featuring flexible meeting spaces, three consulting rooms and a collaborative breakout space, the project will transform an existing council building into an integrated community hub to support community access to services and programs.

The hub is within walking distance to Wallan CBD and transport services, behind the Community Bank Adventure Playground, making it very accessible to the community.

The project received $850,000 from the 2020-21 round of the Growing Suburbs Fund which supports the creation of community connections, enhanced services, and provides greater opportunities for the local community.

The project will be delivered by the Mitchell Shire Council, which has contributed $354,000 towards the project.

Since 2015, the Growing Suburbs Fund has invested more than $21.1 million into Mitchell Shire Council for 22 projects including the now much loved Adventure Playground in Wallan.
