Families in Donnybrook are a step closer to having the exciting new local school they deserve, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s investment in the new Hayes Hill Primary School (interim name).

Premier Daniel Andrews and Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green today visited the site of the new school, which is set to open for the first day of Term 1 in 2023.

When complete, the school will feature specialist teaching areas for science and food technology, two learning neighbourhood buildings, a community hub building with a competition-grade gymnasium, canteen, music and drama space, two outdoor hardcourts, a sports field and an administration building

The school will have space for 525 local students in the growing northern suburb, and will open for enrolments for students in Prep to Grade 6.

The new school shared in a Labor Government investment of $491.5 million in the Victorian Budget 2021/22 for new schools construction – making sure every Victorian family has access to a great local school, close to home.

In the past eight years, the Labor Government has invested $12.8 billion in building new schools and more than 1,850 school upgrades, creating around 17,400 jobs in construction and associated industries.

The Government is ahead of schedule in its work to deliver 100 new schools between 2019 and 2026, with 75 new schools opening between 2019 and 2024.
