NEW VIBRANT TOWN CENTRE FOR WALLAN
Member for Yan Yean, Danielle Green, today officially opened the $4.1 million Wallan town centre revitalisation project.
The Wallan town centre revitalisation project will improve pedestrian connectivity between Wallan’s Central Business District and neighbouring Hadfield Park and is the first stage in a major beautification project for Wallan’s central business district.
The transformed town centre has provided a focal meeting point through the delivery of two new linked public spaces – Free Library Plaza and New Town Square.
The New Town Square works included the transformation of a service road into an outdoor pedestrianised civic square equipped with improved amenities, a new signalised pedestrian crossing connecting Free Library Plaza and high quality hard and soft landscape works.
The upgrade of the existing Free Library Plaza located in Hadfield Park has seen improved hard and soft landscaping, new car park spaces, forecourt improvement works featuring a new Circle of Remembrance area around the War Memorial and a new cenotaph area with flagpoles and lighting.
