OFF-ROAD NEIGHBOURHOOD CONNECTIONS DELIVERED FOR WALLAN

Pedestrians and cyclists in Wallan now have a new thoroughfare that connects nearby residential areas to Wallan’s thriving central business district, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green today joined Mitchell Shire Councillors and local residents to officially open the Wallan Neighbourhood Off-Road Connection project.

In addition to the shared footpath and upgraded lighting along Watson and Dudley Streets, the project delivered improved drainage and kerbside improvements, additional street parking bays and landscaping.

This $997,226 project received $670,000 from the Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund, which supports the creation of community connections, enhanced services and provides greater opportunities in local communities.

The project was delivered by Mitchell Shire which contributed $327,226.

Since 2015, the Growing Suburbs Fund has provided over $14.3 million for 17 projects in the Mitchell Shire, including the Wallan East Early Learning Centre ($2.17 million), the Greater Beveridge Community Centre ($2.14 million) and the Wallan Adventure Playground ($950,000).
