Shooting goals for football and netball in Mitchell Shire
The Andrews Government is providing football and netball clubs in Mitchell Shire another chance to secure funding to upgrade grounds, courts and pavilions, and welcome more members than ever before.
Labor MPs Danielle Green and Jaclyn Symes today urged local clubs to work with Mitchell Shire Council and apply for grants of up to $100,000 under the Country Football and Netball program.
Ms Green said the Labor Government is getting on with giving all Victorians better access to the modern, safe and inclusive sport facilities, no matter where they live.
“This is a great program because it works with non-metropolitan councils and sporting clubs to replace or upgrade ageing grounds and facilities,” Ms Green said.
Ms Symes said football and netball clubs are the heart and soul of Mitchell Shire and the Labor Government was ensuring they get the facilities they need.
“This program is about getting more people into sport and I urge clubs across Mitchell Shire to speak to council about applying for this funding,” Ms Symes said.
Grants will go to projects such as ground resurfacing, new lighting, building more modern and safer netball courts and new pavilions with female-friendly change rooms.
Applications for the Country Football and Netball Program are now open and close on 12 April 2018. For more information or to apply online, visit sport.vic.gov.au
