Whittlesea Rotary Club has been given a helping hand so they can give a helping hand to others thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Andrews Labor Government to purchase a mobile cool room.

Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green today joined members of the Whittlesea Rotary Club to inspect the new cool room that will be used in fundraising activities to support the local community.

Ms Green acknowledged the invaluable contribution by the Whittlesea Rotary Club to the Whittlesea township and surrounding district.

“This mobile cool room will enable the club in its endeavours to support community groups such as the Whittlesea Scouts, local sporting clubs, schools and during emergencies,” Ms Green said.

“I again thank the volunteers of the Whittlesea Rotary Club whose dedication and passion has been vital to our community, particularly following the Black Saturday Bushfires.”

The Rotary Club of Whittlesea has provided crucial support to many of the families impacted by the 2009 Bushfires.

Following the Black Saturday Bushfires, the Club provided assistance at the Bushfire Distribution Centre with volunteers delivering essential items to those in need. Rotary volunteers also helped rebuild a cottage for a senior pensioner in Kinglake who had lost his home.

In the last year, the Rotary Club of Whittlesea has raised more than $20,000 for the local community with some of the funding provided for scholarships to students at local primary and secondary schools in Whittlesea.

Australian Rotary Clubs are part of an international network of business, professional and community leaders who work together to address community and international service needs. If you would like to know more about the Whittlesea Rotary Club please email the club at
