The Whittlesea Football and Netball Club has received funding from the Andrews Labor Government to renovate its scoreboard and improve facilities at its clubrooms.

Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green said the Eagles were an integral part of the community, with a history spanning more than 120 years and 700 active members.

However the club’s facilities at Whittlesea Showgrounds are in need of a revamp.

The Labor Government is providing $18,000 to modernise the existing scoreboard, create a new barbecue area for members and visitors to enjoy, carry out repairs on the front veranda, and install a secure new window shutter on the canteen.

The improvements will help ensure the Eagles attract and retain members and supporters, including the rapid growth of female teams in the club.

2019 will be a huge year for the club with Senior Women’s and Super Rules teams to taking the field for first time.

The funding is part of the Labor Government’s commitment to promoting sports and active recreation, and encouraging all Victorians to get out there and get active.

That’s why we’ve invested almost half a billion dollars in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 to ensure sport and active recreation go from strength to strength.
