The 2019/20 Victorian State Budget delivers on the Andrews Labor Government’s $547 million election commitment to deliver the Hurstbridge Line Stage 2.

The upgrade which will deliver 20 minute rail service frequency for Hurstbridge, Wattle Glen and Diamond Creek. A new station at Greensborough will mean quicker bus connections, greatly assisting 343 bus users. New service frequency will be delivered without the need for full track duplication to Hurstbridge, meaning the retention of parkland along the Diamond Creek and no additional land for stabling in Hurstbridge because extra stabling will be at Mernda.

Track duplication will be undertaken for 1.5 kilometres between Diamond Creek and Wattle Glen, and 3 kilometres between Greensborough and Eltham, while maintaining the Eltham Trestle Bridge.
