ARCHITECT APPOINTED FOR MERNDA SCHOOL UPGRADE

Better facilities are on their way for students at Mernda Park Primary with the appointment of an architect to design the school’s important upgrade thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Yan Yean, Danielle Green today announced Architecture Matters Pty Ltd. would design works to be undertaken at Mernda Park Primary to deliver an upgrade to the school playground.

The Labor Government has provided $106,165 to go towards installing shade sails and soft-fall surfaces, to help keep students safe and secure while playing.

The Victorian Budget 2020/21 invests $70 million in the new Minor Capital Works Fund, which includes $20 million as previously announced as part of the Building Works Package.

Schools have been allocated funding to fast-track priority projects under the Minor Capital Works Fund to improve learning environments as well as the condition and character of schools.

In the past five years, the Victorian Government has invested more than $9 billion in more than 1,600 school upgrades – creating more than 10,000 construction jobs – and is now ahead of schedule its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 48 new schools opening between 2019 and 2022.
